As of today, Product, Technology & Data are being brought together under one integrated structure and leadership model. The world of e commerce is changing rapidly, driven by AI, shifting customer behaviour, and rising expectations around speed and ease. To meet these expectations and deliver customer value consistently, we are simplifying our leadership model. The combined end to end responsibility will sit with Ronald van Rijn.

Van Rijn joined bol’s Executive Board on 1 September 2025 as Chief Technology & Data Officer (CTDO), after starting as Senior Director Technology in June 2024. In recent years, he has built a strong, future‑proof Tech & Data organisation and has played a key role in accelerating innovation and execution across bol.

“In a market that is constantly evolving, success requires clear choices and strong alignment. By bringing Product and Technology & Data under one responsibility, we increase our agility, shorten the path from idea to customer value, and create greater clarity in direction and priorities,” said Maite Zubiaurre, CEO of bol.

Van Rijn has more than twenty years of experience in technology‑driven organisations. He previously held CTO roles at Marktplaats, Shpock and FUGA, and held leadership positions at companies including Nike and eBay. He also worked as a Technical Lead at KLM and as a Software Architect at ING. This background, combined with his deep knowledge of bol, ensures continuity in further strengthening the company’s Tech, Data and Product strategy.

Joris Scheepens, who has served as interim Chief Product Officer in recent months, will now be able to fully refocus on Advertising & New Business, a dynamic and strategic domain that makes an important contribution to bol’s growth and long‑term resilience.
