Together in the right direction
Since we started in 1999, we’ve been on a mission to make life easier for our customers. The e-commerce market is constantly changing, and that calls for flexibility, innovation, and responsibility. That drive to improve is in our nature: we’re making sustainable shopping easier and bringing customers, suppliers, and partners along with us. From packaging and transport to energy use – together, we’re taking steps toward a future where convenience and sustainability go hand in hand.

Our mission
Every order has an impact – and we want to keep that impact as small as possible. That’s why we work on improvements every single day: from smart packaging and sustainable delivery to using 100% local wind and solar energy in our buildings.
We believe it’s important that customers can make conscious choices. That’s why we provide insight into the origin, production process, and environmental impact of products. Together, we’re making sustainable shopping easier.
Our B Corp certification shows how seriously we take this mission and the high standards we strive for.

Choosing easier
Choosing sustainably doesn’t have to be complicated. That’s why more than a million products on our platform have a special label: the globe. This label shows which products offer significant sustainability benefits compared to similar items.
Every product with a globe meets one or more certifications or criteria we’ve defined together with Milieu Centraal.
Think of products made from at least 50% recycled material, items with a Fairtrade label, or devices that use less energy than their counterparts. This way, we make it easier to make conscious choices.
If you would like to see all articles with a globe label in an overview or perhaps you would like to read more about all the different initiatives bol has in the field of corporate social responsibility, read here.

Sustainable logistics
Every day, we work on making our ambition a reality. In 2025, we built on earlier innovations like smart packing machines and packaging-free shipping. Our updated mono-packing machines save 27% cardboard and 60% glue, cutting CO₂ emissions per parcel by 28%.
We also send more products in their original packaging, without an extra bol box. In 2024, this applied to 9% of items, saving 4 million kilos of cardboard.
And we’re making progress in transport too. Transport accounts for just 1.5% of our total CO₂ emissions, but we want to reduce that even further.Since 2025, our logistics startup Ampère has been handling mid-mile routes – between distribution centers, sorting hubs, and return locations – fully on HVO or electric. Smaller, better-fitting packages also mean more parcels per trip and less air being shipped.
Here you can read more about all the initiatives we have to reduce CO2 emissions within logistics.
