

Bol announces that Maite Zubiaurre, currently Chief Product & Technology Officer at bol, will be appointed as CEO of the online retail platform. She will succeed Margaret Versteden-van Duijn who will be appointed CEO of Albert Heijn, Etos and Gall & Gall. These changes will take effect on 1 September 2025.
Maite has held multiple senior positions at bol, including Director of Strategy & Business development and Director of Marketing & Shopping Technologies. In 2021 she was appointed as Chief Product Officer and joined bol’s board of directors. In 2024 she expanded her board position to encompass Technology and Data next to Product. Prior to her career at bol, she worked for BCG for 10 years in different countries, such as Spain, the Netherlands, the United States and the United Kingdom. She holds a degree in Business Administration from the Deusto University in Spain and the European Business School in Germany as well as an MBA from the University of Deusto.

Margaret has held various board positions within bol. She started ten years ago as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and later took on the roles of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and Chief Platform Officer, holding ultimately responsibility for bol’s platform activities. She became CEO of bol in 2021. Before Margaret joined bol, she worked for Bain & Company, Nike and BCG. Originally from Australia, Margaret Versteden-van Duijn holds double nationality (Australian/Dutch) and has lived and worked in Australia, Malaysia, Germany, France, Central Eastern Europeand the Netherlands. She holds a bachelor's degree in Business Systems (Business and IT) from Monash University and an MBA from INSEAD.
